PLEASING GOD

Is It Possible?

I was driving home from work today and I remembered a song from when I was a teenager. It was from an old children's musical called The Music Machine. This particular song took it's inspiration from Hebrews 11:6 "Without Faith it is impossible to please God." Not exactly sure why this song popped into my head. Perhaps because I was thinking about a friend who struggles with self-forgiveness. He doesn't believe that God can forgive him or will ever be pleased with him because he can't forgive himself. What a heavy burden to carry. It breaks my heart.

We get so wrapped up thinking that God is like us, that we forget He is God and there is no one like Him. His ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. The only way to know God is to spend time with Him. Read His word, talk to Him, and be open to hearing Him talk to you. You don't have to be super spiritual or know all the right words. His spirit meets yours and knows what is on your heart. Doesn't that just blow your mind?!

Imagine Jesus being just a phone call away. Would you call him?

Imagine Jesus living next door, would you go over and chat?

Imagine Jesus available 24/7, because He is.

This is part of the exercise of faith. You reach out and trust the one who made you. You believe that His word is true. The Bible says that He will never leave you or forsake you and NOTHING can separate you from His love. Faith is calling up Jesus just to chat. We put these human limitations on God that keep us from living in faith. We sure are silly.

You see, the simple words of Hebrews 11:6 show us that the only way to please God is by having faith in God. That is it. Hebrews 11 talks about men of Faith who were friends with God. They knew God personally. That is faith. The more you talk to God, spend time with Him and honor Him, the stronger your faith grows. He shows up every time. Why? Love. God IS Love.

If you had a friend who never showed up, would you have much faith in them? Would you trust them to be there when you really needed a friend?

Imagine Jesus showing up every time you want to talk and need someone to listen.

Imagine Jesus being there when you are scared, alone, need a hug or just need someone to tell you straight to your face that you are loved and stop being such a ding dong!

The Bible is full of times when all that was needed for healing was faith that God would heal. The woman who touched the hem of Jesus coat as he passed by didn't want to bother him but she knew (by faith) that she would be healed if she could just touch his clothes. She did and was healed! He knew what happened. He stopped at that moment. What a crazy life changing miraculous wonderful day for a woman who had just enough faith.

Faith is something that ALL of us are capable of, but not all of us will embrace or live by, but IMAGINE if we did!

POWERFUL things would happen in this world - POWERFUL!

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast."
