Finding Your Reason for Being
Today is dog park day for me and the boy. We go and play for an hour. He has learned to swim and spends nearly his entire playtime chasing balls or sticks that I throw into the water. When we first adopted Wagsley he wouldn't go into the water deeper than his feet. Now he swims, sometimes with a 3 foot long stick in his mouth. I won't say that he found his purpose, but he did find his courage and discovered that he really likes water.
We are the same way. Timid with things in life. We get our feet wet and then start to immerse ourselves deeper in the experiences that life has to offer. The more we grow the more we try. Sometimes we fail but the key to success as we know is to keep trying even after you fail. We discover there are things that we are good at and things better left to professionals with safety equipment. When we find something that we excel in and enjoy doing that is our sweet spot.
Spiritual purpose is much the same way. When you find your spiritual purpose in this world, you become an unstoppable force. Billy Graham for example. How many hundreds of thousands of people did he reach with the Gospel? How many evangelistic crusades did he hold? He is the one we think of when we think 20th century evangelists. He wasn't the only one, but he was the most popular. He found his purpose and God used him to reach millions.
Do you know we all have a purpose?
Have you found yours yet?
We all have different roles, but we all have ONE purpose. It is the same purpose. Billy Graham knew what it was. It became clear to me today when I was out in nature playing with the dog and praising God for the amazing day and a break in the never-ending rain. The one thing that has changed in my life is praise. That is it. I don't read my bible more than I did. I don't do anything different except praise. The more I praise the more sure that I am of my purpose. I was created to Praise God. That is it. I might have a role to play in today's spiritual war, but my PURPOSE has always been to Praise God.
Imagine Jesus clapping, NO giving us a standing ovation when we finally get it. If you discovered this already it is time to take a bow. When we bow down, we aren't taking credit for discovering our purpose we are bowing down before the King of Kings in grateful praise which is our ONE true purpose.
Imagine Jesus saying "well done! You are ready now, let's change the world!"
Your purpose, My purpose is to PRAISE GOD every single day! Live your purpose and He will put you to work, and that work will bring you more joy than your heart can hold. You will see more beauty and more reasons to Praise God with every single breath.
I dare you to prove me wrong!
The God-Inspired writing of the psalmist says it clearly. Don't just be hearers of the word - be DOERS also!.
Psalm 150
Praise the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
Praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,
Praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!
